Who We Are

The USN/USCG Burton Island Association is founded to perpetuate the memory of the "Great Lady of the Frozen Seas"

THE USS/USCGC BURTON ISLAND ASSOCIATION

This is the official website for the USN/USCG Burton Island Association.

The purpose of this association is to perpetuate and preserve the memory and heritage of the USN/USCG Icebreaker Burton Island, this "Great Lady of the Frozen Seas", to promote camaraderie among the members and former shipmates, and to provide a means for this fraternity to continue in the future.

We have a slate of elected and appointed officers and we publish a newsletter about four times each year. The newsletter contains items of interest to those who served aboard the Burton Island, including member news and historical information.

In order to further this association we hold a reunion every two years. We had our first reunion in Seattle, WA in 1995;  future reunion sites are chosen by the  membership.
